The award, a $5,000 prize, will be presented to the directing duo on June 25, along with a screening of the film. The event is linked to the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival, which runs until June 26.
"The Betrayal," Kuras' directorial debut, preemed at Sundance. It spans 23 years of a family's hardships from war-torn Laos to Gotham. Co-helmer Phrasavath narrates his own immigrant experience in the pic.
