"Playground," a drama about a German woman moving to Finland, gets $76,000 toward its budget of $1.8 million. Pic is helmed by Toni Laine and produced by Aleksi Bardy for Helsinki-Filmi, with Germany's Network Movie Film- und Fernsehproduktion co-producing. Pic starts shooting this September for a September 2009 premiere.
Estonian/Finnish/Swedish co-production "The Temptation of St. Tony" gets $124,000 toward its budget of $1.5 million. Pic is a dark comedy about a desperate man tempted by a mysterious stranger to choose a life of rebellion.
Pic is helmed by Veiko Ounpuu and produced by Katrin Kissa for Estonian Homeless Bon Prod., with Jesse Fryckman and Tero Kaukomaa for Finland's Bronson Club and Kristina Aberg for Swedish Atmo as co-producers. Pic starts shooting in September for a September 2009 premiere.
