Hedley nets 4 MuchMusic awards

Vancouver rock group storms Canadian event

TORONTO -- Vancouver heavy-rock quartet Hedley took home trophies for overall video, director, cinematography (for "For the Nights I Can't Remember") and MuchLOUD rock video (for "She's So Sorry") at the 19th MuchMusic Video Awards on Sunday.

Linkin Park won the international group category for "Bleed It Out." People's Choice awards went to Fall Out Boy (favorite international video), Avril Lavigne (favorite Canadian artist) and Simple Plan (favorite Canadian group).

There were live performances by Def Jam recording artist Rihanna -- who also won for international artist -- and a reunited New Kids on the Block.

Held at the headquarters of Much, as the Canadian specialty pop music channel is familiarly known, in Toronto during a series of torrential downpours, celebs dashing up the soggy red carpet included presenters Whitney Port ("The Hills"), Rainn Wilson ("The Office"), Kal Penn (the "Harold & Kumar" pics) and gossip blogger Perez Hilton.

The arrival special, awards ceremony and after-party aired live on Much.

MuchMusic, owned by CTVglobemedia, has five spinoff Canadian music channels (including the French-language MusiquePlus) and several affiliated international channels.
