Associated to make black artists doc

90-minute special exec produced by Intrepid

Associated Television has announced production of a documentary about black artists in the entertainment industry.

Untitled 90-minute special will be exec produced by Intrepid, a shingle co-founded by Blair Underwood and Tommy Morgan Jr. Production begins next month.

"My goal is to chronicle the triumphs and hardships endured by a multitude of artists, relating stories through their own voices," said Associated topper David McKenzie. "We hope to interview entertainers from many decades in an effort to tell a compelling story that captures the shifts in societal tolerance and awareness."

Last year, Intrepid produced "Million Dollar Christmas" for TLC.
