Script is based on the true story of Damien Oliver, a young jockey who lost his only brother in a racing accident.
"The Cup" is being made in association with Village Roadshow Australia and the Film Finance Corp. Project will be produced and directed by Simon Wincer, who wrote the script with Eric O'Keefe.
Lance Hool of Silver Lion and Myriad's Kirk D'Amico will exec produce. Production is set to begin in September in Ireland and Melbourne; Myriad will handle foreign sales.
