Irons, Allen set for 'Impressionism'

Duo to star in Jacobs' Broadway production

Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen will be back on Broadway in the spring, toplining Michael Jacobs' new play "Impressionism."

Jack O'Brien ("The Coast of Utopia," "Hairspray") helms the show, about the relationship between a photojournalist and the owner of a Gotham art gallery. Ostar Prods., the company headed by Bill Haber ("Thurgood," "The Country Girl"), produces.

Irons has not appeared on the Rialto since "The Real Thing" in 1984, for which he won a Tony.

Allen's last Broadway credit was "The Heidi Chronicles" in 1989. She won a 1988 Tony for "Burn This."

Jacobs' play "Cheaters" ran for a bit more than a month on Broadway in 1978. He has since produced TV skeins including "Boy Meets World" and "Charles in Charge," as well as the 1994 pic "Quiz Show."

Further casting and other creatives remain to be announced for "Impressionism."

Theater for the show will be determined in future months, as the hits and misses of the upcoming season shake down.
