British line producers head for L.A.

U.K. pushes for more U.S. films

LONDON — The U.K. Film Council is jetting out eight Brit line producers and unit production managers to Los Angeles as part of its plan to stimulate inward investment production for the U.K. film biz.

They will be meeting with U.S. studio and indie execs during their stay in the U.S. next week.

The move is a result of a U.K. infrastructure workshop day organized by British film commissioner Colin Brown in April and is being co-ordinated with the Production Guild of Great Britain.

Jo Burn (“Hellboy II”), Mark Cooper (“The Other Boleyn Girl”), Sally French (“Wanted”), Mark Hubbard (“St. Trinian’s”), Cindy Irving (“Alexander”), Angus More Gordon (“The Quantum of Solace”), Richard Sharkey (“The Brothers Grimm”) and Kathy Sykes (“Mamma Mia!”) are the eight production execs flying out to the U.S.

“Our line producers and production managers have a long and much valued relationship with the studios and U.S. production executives, handling films of all genres, budget size and complexity, bringing films in on time and budget whilst achieving the highest level of production quality and many are currently working on major U.S. movies,” commented British film commissioner Colin Brown.
