The broadcaster also announced 2008-09 programming for its 21 pay TV channels at a Wednesday event hosted by CanWest Broadcasting prexy Kathy Dore and exec VP of content Barbara Williams at Toronto's Elgin Theater.
There were few surprises, mainly because CanWest preempted the dealmaking at the L.A. Screenings and announced an acquisition deal with NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution on May 6.
The broadcaster adds 13 series to its lineups of returning aud-pleasers "House," "Heroes," "The Office" and "Survivor" and adds 17 titles to its roster of primetime shows cleared for online streaming.
New series on Global include the refreshed "90210," starring Canadian Shenae Grimes; Christian Slater spy thriller "My Own Worst Enemy"; the U.S. remake of BBC series "Life on Mars"; futuristic action drama "Dollhouse"; "The Ex-List"; and the U.S. remake of Oz sitcom "Kath & Kim," starring Selma Blair and "Saturday Night Live" alum Molly Shannon.
Returning Canadian-made shows include comedy "Da Kink in My Hair" and drama "The Guard."
"Knight Rider," the new model of the 1980s drama, highlights the E! grid, which also features new sitcoms "Do Not Disturb" and "Worst Week."
