The Munich-based company operates women’s content portal www.Fem.com, which has seen dramatic growth in Germany.
Fem.com bundles about 20 medium-sized websites targeted at women and focusing on topics such as beauty, fashion, lifestyle, celebrities, music, love and relationships.
ProSiebenSat.1 will launch the portal in other European countries before the end of this year.
ProSiebenSat.1 said the 100% acquisition adds women as a key target group to the company’s Networld Internet portfolio.
"The Fem.com women’s content portal enables us to fill a critical gap in the ProSiebenSat.1 group’s Internet sites, since women are a key target group for the Internet as well as TV,” said ProSiebenSat.1’s New Media chief Marcus Englert, adding that the group aims “to position Fem.com in the mid-term as one of Europe’s leading women’s content networks and to repeat the success of the example set by Glam.com in the U.S."
ProSiebenSat.1 Networld includes the websites of the group’s channels, Sat.1, ProSieben, Kabel Eins and N24, as well as German YouTube-clone MyVideo, weather site wetter.com, video-on-demand portal Maxdome, and social networking site Lokalisten.de.
