'Indy' tops Korean box office again

Pic passed the 2 million ticket sales mark Friday on only its eighth day of release, the fastest box office mover this year.
While local films are slow at the box office, Hollywood movies swept the chart last weekend.
Cameron Diaz starrer "What Happens in Vegas" opened on 353 screens and ranked at No. 2 with $1.9 million cume to date.
"The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" showing on 403 screens in its third weekend came in at No. 3, grossing $8.4 million to date. "Iron Man" at No. 4 is still strong with a $26.8 million cume with 4.26 million admissions to date.
Among the newly released pics, Al Pacino starrer "88 Minutes" ranked at No. 4 with 141,840 admissions during the weekend and has taken $1 million gross to date. Helmer James Gray's "We Own the Night" opened on 168 screens and ranked at No. 7 with a $300,000 gross.
No significant Korean horror films are expected this summer when such films are used as chillers. Horror pics from Thailand and Hollywood are replacing the local line-up.
At No. 6, helmer Paween Purikitpanya's "Body #19" opened on 208 screens and took $460,000 gross to date.
Wisit Sasanatieng's "The Unseeable," Ekachai Uekrongtham's "The Coffin," as well as Hollywood pics "The Eye" and "The Strangers" are lining up for outings.
Of the few local films on offer, helmer Jeong Yeong-bae's low-budget drama "Cherrytomato" ranked at No. 10 with just $80,000 from 13,400 admissions.
