Responsibilities will include overseeing television and digital projects. First on her agenda is new documentary series "3 Americas," which explores socioeconomic status in the U.S., to be directed by Barbara Kopple.
Demme, niece of bigscreen director Jonathan Demme and sister of the late Ted Demme, arrives at Gotham-based shingle after serving as head of production at Fuse Networks. Previously, she worked on the MTV Video Music Awards and VH1's "2000 Greatest Pop Culture Icons."
"I've wanted to work with Jen for years," said City Lights TV president Dave Noll, to whom Demme will report. "Everyone around MTV Networks and Rainbow Media knows of her hard work. Clearly, it runs in her family."
