MX Tokyo bows cell channels

Station to begin broadcasting on June 23

MX Tokyo, a station serving the Tokyo metro area, will bow its two channels on cell phones -- a first for a commercial broadcaster in Japan -- beginning June 23.

MX Tokyo has been beaming one channel with a selection of programming to cell phone users. The new service, which hopes to make money by selling ads, will offer the entire sked of the two MX Tokyo channels.
