MGM Channel gets Italy makeover

News Corp.'s Sky Italia to air studio's catalogue

HOLLYWOOD -- MGM Networks will bow an Italian version of the MGM Channel on News Corp.'s satcaster Sky Italia on June 1.

"This deal is a significant milestone in our success across Europe. Italy is one of the key European markets that remained untapped for us," said Bruce Tuchman, MGM Networks executive VP, who announced the deal on Tuesday.

The MGM Channel will be included in Sky Italia's Cinema package, which reaches most of the platform's subscribers.

It will feature a wide selection of titles from the MGM movie catalog dubbed into Italian including titles from the "Rocky" and "Pink Panther" franchises, and films such us "Thelma & Louise," "Annie Hall," "New York, New York," "Paths of Glory" and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang."
