Premiere has 4 million subscribers in Germany and Austria. News Corp. has been boosting its equity position in the company since January, when it bought 14.5% of it from Unitymedia.
News also has stakes in pay TV entities BSkyB and SKY Italia.
Earlier this month, during a conference call with analysts about first-quarter results, News Corp. topper Rupert Murdoch was asked about the strategy with Premiere and the other European channels. He nodded at the EU's cap on ownership stakes -- roughly 30% before a tender offer for the company is required -- but added a cautiously upbeat note.
"We would like to stop actually and be on that board and have a look at that business from inside," Murdoch said. "It's been through a lot of ups and downs and it's just a fantastic market."
