CBS Films gets 'Permission'

Picks up Lutz's romantic comedy

CBS Films has picked up "Legally Blonde" scribe Karen McCullah Lutz's romantic comedy spec "Permission."

Story revolves around a married couple in their 30s who give each otherpermission to sleep with someone else while on separate vacations.

Lutz and longtime writing partner Kirsten Smith have penned such female-centric laffers as "She's the Man" and "10 Things I Hate About You" as well as the upcoming "The Ugly Truth" and "The House Bunny." The sale of "Permission," which Lutz wrote independently, comes on the heels of another solo effort sale, "Long Time Gone," which she is producing alongside Seth Jaret and Rainstorm Entertainment.

Jaret and Lutz will produce "Permission."

The fledgling CBS Films plans to develop and produce four to six movies per year, with production budgets up to $50 million per film. The movies will be released domestically through a U.S. theatrical distribution unit to be established within CBS Films.
