Cannes played part in 'Igor' toon

Christian Slater drawn to McKenna's fairy tale

At a reception hosted by the Weinstein Co., Exodus Film Group and HP at the Majestic Hotel for "Igor," its screenwriter Christopher McKenna said the idea for the toon came to him 10 years ago, when he last visited Cannes.

"For me, it's like a fairy tale, but this time the ogre wins in the end," McKenna said Saturday. For his part, Christian Slater, one of the film's voices, said he was drawn to the concept. "I signed up for it even before there was any movie. It was just a 20-minute short."
