The $30 million movie, set in 13th century England, is the story of a small band of knights who defended Rochester Castle against the tyrant King John.
Cast includes Richard Attenborough, Pete Postlethwaite, Angus Macfadyen and Colm Meaney, with James Purefoy and Paul Giamatti in talks to play the leading knight and King John respectively.
Mythic will co-produce with Zephyr Films and Picture Park. Mythic's sales topper Glenn Kendrick Ackerman is pre-selling the project in Cannes.
Mythic was founded earlier this year by U.S. producer Rick Benattar, U.K. attorney-producer Andrew Curtis and English. English previously directed "Minotaur" and produced "A Good Woman." Benattar produced "Shoot 'Em Up."
The company will develop and finance its own projects, and provide co-financing to other producers. It is negotiating a revolving credit facility with National Bank of California to offer gap finance, and has backing for its own slate from two private equity groups in London and New York.
