Univision upfront goes to new 'Heights'

Cast from hit play performs at Lincoln Center

The jazz-centric Rose Hall at Lincoln Center had a different kind of music playing in it Wednesday morning: The cast of Tony contender "In the Heights" graced the stage with the show's opening number during Univision's upfront presentation.

The Spanish-language broadcaster presented testimonials from satisfied advertisers along with its programming slate, which includes new telenovelas such as "Las Tontas No Van al Cielo" (Dumb Girls Don't Go to Heaven).

Univision will air three new dramatic series and three gameshows, including "Viva el Sueno!," a 13-week competition between Hispanic performers vying "American Idol"-style for a big break. The net also announced the 20th season of Emmy-winner Cristina Saralegui's "El Show de Cristina."

Two Spanish-language feature films are premiering on the net next year, as well: "Ladron Que Roba a Ladron" (How to Rob a Thief) and "La Misma Luna" (Under the Same Moon).
