James Garner recovering from stroke

Oscar-nominated actor turned 80 in April

James Garner remains in an L.A. hospital following his stroke on Friday.

He had surgery on Sunday and "everything coming out of the surgery went great," said Jennifer Allen, Garner's longtime publicist. There is no timetable for his release from the hospital, nor word if he is suffering any permanent health issues from the stroke.

Garner, who turned 80 in April, received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the SAG Awards in 2005 and was Oscar-nominated for "Murphy's Romance." He won an Emmy in 1977 for his turn in "The Rockford Files."
