Plot details of Hauty's pitch are being kept under wraps, but it is described as a romantic supernatural thriller set on a college campus.
Hauty is working on the script, which is expected to be ready in time to be Wadlow's next project.
Wadlow, whose credits also include the teen thriller "Cry Wolf," is attached to helm the political satire "Hail to the Thief" for Focus Features and "The Tomb" for Summit.
Hauty, a former playwright, has several screenplays in development around town including the Jessica Alba starrer "Beautiful Killer" at Universal.
