MOSCOW -- The Kremlin is coming to Cannes to position Russian studios in the international film production marketplace.

The first-ever Russian Pavilion opens Wednesday and execs are launching a business offensive Friday.

Alexander Golutva, deputy head of the federal culture and cinematography agency — who doubles as president of the producers guild — will tell an International Village roundtable about opportunities for foreign producers to shoot in Russia or contract out services.

Alexey Sokhnev, CEO of Vusion Consult, and executives from studios such as St. Petersburg’s Lenfilm, new southern Russian facility Solar Film and Russian World Studios will also participate.

“Mongol” director Sergei Bodrov will deliver a masterclass Sunday morning.

Fipresci prexy Andrey Plakhov, one of Russia’s top film critics, will host a mid-morning workshop Monday on “international perspectives of Russian cinema.”
