Both are up for director and most of the thesping ribbons.
In "Chaos," helmed by Antonello Grimaldi, Moretti plays a widowed TV exec who takes to a park bench outside his young daughter's school. Grimaldi and Moretti are nommed along with producer Domenico Procacci.
"Her Whole Life," produced by Medusa, is a biting laffer about cutthroat capitalism largely set in a Rome call center, an Italo outpost of a fictitious U.S. marketing giant.
Both pics had healthy box office runs boosted by critical kudos.
Pics with six noms each are Daniele Luchetti's comedy "My Brother Is an Only Child," about two siblings who in the 1970s chose opposite political camps, Giuliano Montaldo's Dostoyevky biopic "The St. Petersburg Demons" and Andrea Molaioli's noir "The Girl by the Lake."
The Silver Ribbons, which will be announced June 14, are voted on by Italy's national film journalists' union SNGCI.
