Bavaria picks up 'Moscow'

Pic screens in Critics' Week

By ED MEZA

BERLIN — Bavaria Film Intl. has picked up Christophe van Rompaey’s upcoming Cannes screener “Aanrijding in Moscou” (Moscow, Belgium).

Company is handling worldwide rights, outside of the Benelux, for the Belgian film, which will unspool in Critics’ Week in Cannes.

Produced by Belgium’s A Private View in co-production with VTM and the Flanders Audiovisual Fund, “Moscow, Belgium” is a romantic comedy set against the backdrop of Moscow, a densely populated working-class neighborhood on the outskirts of the Belgian city of Ghent.

Pic focuses on Matty, 41 and mother of three, who has a fateful fender bender in the parking lot of a supermarket, which leads to a romantic entanglement.

“Moscow, Belgium” has proved a major box office success in Belgium.
