Indies take 'Different' path

Winter Road and Veralux to produce memoir

Winter Road Entertainment is partnering with Veralux Media to produce the faith-themed memoir "Same Kind of Different as Me," by Ron Hall, Denver Moore and Lynn Vincent.

Mark Clayman, who exec produced "The Pursuit of Happyness," acquired the book, which is based on a true story that chronicles an unlikely friendship between a wealthy art dealer struggling to salvage his crumbling marriage and a drifter living on the streets.

Book, which explores such motifs as miracles and the healing power of faith, gained grassroots support in Christian circles and became a New York Times bestseller. Recently released in paperback, "Same Kind of Different as Me" was first published in 2006.

Ralph Winter (the "X-Men" and "Fantastic Four" franchises) and Susana Zepeda will produce for Winter Road, which has a first-look deal at 20th Century Fox. Clayman and Jennifer Gates will produce for Veralux Media. Winter also produced "Left Behind: The Movie."

Winter Road and Veralux will be taking the property to studios.
