U.K. dominates Rose d'Or TV festival
Channel 4 has strong showing at Swiss event

Of the eight Golden Roses presented Tuesday at an awards ceremony held in Lucerne, C4 clinched the prizes for arts documentary, won by "Strictly Bolshoi"; drama, cult teen skein "Skins"; and sitcom, "The IT Crowd." The BBC returned home with the comedy prize for the satire "Kombat Opera Presents."
Sony Pictures Television Intl. scooped the gamer Rose for "Power of Ten."
Dutch shingle Eyeworks won the entertainment prize for children's hidden-camera show "Hider in the House," while Swiss Television clinched the performing arts award with "Mozart's Magic Flute Onstage and Backstage." Dutch producer Park Lane TV won the Rose for reality show, with "The Phone."
Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, received an honorary Rose for lifetime achievement.
"This year's programs were of exceptional quality, which presented our international jurors with a challenging task," said fest director Urban Frye. "However, the caliber of entries proves not only that the Rose d'Or is back at the heart of European creativity, but also that it is possible to create programs with cross-cultural and cross-generational appeal."
Next year's Rose d'Or fest will run May 1-5.
