Eyeworks taps production co-head

Metcalfe to top unit with Scholes

AUCKLAND -- Eyeworks NZ chief executive Julie Christie has signed "The Ferryman" producer Matthew Metcalfe to join Robyn Scholes as joint head of production for film and TV drama.

Christie said the combination of the veteran and tyro filmmakers would develop and build a sustainable film and drama business for the Kiwi outpost of the Dutch firm formerly known as Touchdown.

Metcalfe's past releases include "Nemesis Game" and "The Ferryman" while Scholes -- best known for 1994 pic "Once Were Warriors" -- produced "The Tattoist" for Eyeworks last year.

"The Tattooist" was made with Mediacorp Raintree Pictures through a Singapore-New Zealand co-production agreement. Christie said collaboration is planned as part of the deal.

Metcalfe and Scholes will work together on some projects, including a film from local director Glenn Standring.
