When Gossett's deal was up he was pursued by all the agencies. He is bringing the Cyrus brood with him.
His hiring marks UTA's first plunge into the youth market, something Gossett knows well after repping clients who are staples on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon series.
All his clients are expected to join Gossett at UTA, though the deals he made for the kids -- including Cyrus' "Hannah Montana" series pact at Disney -- stay at the other percentery.
In addition to discovering Cyrus, whose show has become one of the highest rated on television and who's already starred in a Disney 3-D concert film, Gossett reps AnnaSophia Robb ("Race to Witch Mountain"), Hunter Parrish ("Weeds"), Taylor Momsen ("Gossip Girls"), Victoria Justice ("Spectacular"), Cody Linley ("Hannah Montana"), Madison Pettis ("The Game Plan"), Andrea Bowen ("Desperate Housewives"), Demi Lovato ("Camp Rock") and Chelsea Staub ("Jonas Brothers" series on Disney).
"Working with Mitchell is a logical extension of our core belief of finding and developing emerging talent," said UTA chairman Jim Berkus. "We are also excited about the opportunities that present themselves for these artists in the music, fashion and marketing universes."
Gossett spent seven years as vice president of theatrical at CESD and ran the agency's young talent division. Before that, he ran the talent management firm Gossett Entertainment for five years, working early on with the likes of Hayden Panettierre, Kristen Bell, Seann William Scott and Katharine McPhee.
