American World picks up trio

Film unit graps rights to three projects

American World Pictures has picked up sales and distribution rights to three projects -- "The Lena Baker Story," "Shoot on Sight" and "The Little Traitor."

The trio of films are set to screen at the Cannes market.

"Lena Baker" stars Tichina Arnold as a victim of racial injustice who became the first woman in Georgia to die in the electric chair in 1944. Peter Coyote, Michael Rooker and Beverly Todd also star; veteran actor Ralph Wilcox wrote the script, directed and produced with Shuster's Cash LLC.

Political thriller "Shoot on Sight" is a based on the London bombings of July 7, 2005, and is directed by Jag Mundhra, an American citizen born in India and living in London at the time. Story follows the life of a Muslim police officer at Scotland Yard responsible for investigating the police shooting of a suspected Muslim terrorist.

"Shoot" stars Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Brian Cox, Greta Scacchi and Sadie Frost. Aron Govil produced the film under the Cine Boutique Entertainment banner.

"The Little Traitor" is based on the novel "Panther in the Basemen" by Amos Oz and set in 1947 as a coming-of-age story centered on a 12-year-old Israeli boy and a British sergeant. Alfred Molina stars opposite Ido Port; Lynn Roth wrote, directed and produced with Eitan Evan.
