Aimed at kids aged 8 to 15, the program forms part of the network's regionalization strategy and is slated to premiere in June. The Argentinean and Mexican versions will be taped at the pan- regional net's Sao Paulo studio.
"In 2006, Nickelodeon Brazil launched the first version of 'Nickers' with amazing success in that market," says Tatiana Rodriguez, VP of programming and creative strategy for Nickelodeon Latin America. "For this reason, we decided to expand our strategy to include local versions for Argentina and Mexico."
"Nickers" in Brazil grew Nickelodeon's audience 24% between the first and second season among pay TV viewers ages 4 to 11.
Program will have two local hosts per country: Sabrinna Macchi and Guido Botti in Argentina and Thali Garcia and Alexander Da Silva in Mexico.
"Nickers" is divided into various segments including videoclips, humor, audience interactivity via telephone calls and games alternating with Nickelodeon's programming.
In addition, the show will feature a dedicated Nicktoon block. Nickelodeon Latin America first ventured into original programming with kid-targeted sitcom "Skimo" in 2006. Skein has been syndicated on free-to-air webs in Mexico and Colombia.
