Marcus joins in time to assist Calfo with her production company's first pilot, "Finnegan."
The presentation, set up at ABC, is in the casting stage. Calfo is exec producing with scribe Trent Jones and helmer Gary Fleder.
Marcus joins Calfo from the Story Dept., where he served as a producer. Before that, he was an exec at New York's Killer Films, producing indie features including "Party Monster" and "Women in Film."
Marcus is no stranger to ABC, having exec produced the P.K. Simonds project "Holy Schmidt," which was in development at the net last year.
Calfo said she appreciated the fact that Marcus has spent more time in film than TV. "Jon has amazing taste, and he's a really smart guy," Calfo said. "He'll bring a freshness and an energy."
Calfo had originally planned to bring in a development lieutenant sooner but said it took a while to find the right candidate. In the meantime, she was able to gauge exactly what she was looking for in an exec.
"It was really good for me to be in the job and be overwhelmed doing all the reading, developing and meeting," she said. "I got a good sense of what I needed, and just got things in motion. The timing couldn't be better, with one development season under my belt."
