Oh replaces Jay Shim and reports to Sunder N. Kimatrai, Fox's VP Asia-Pacific.
Fox was last year Korea's seventh biggest distributor with a 5.6% market share. "This is a very exciting time for Fox Korea with the recent success of 'Jumper' and a fantastic upcoming slate," Kimatrai said. "With Tom’s talent and experience of having worked for both the US and Korean major studios, we feel confident that he will lead the Korean team to even greater heights."
The studio shuttered its stand-alone video distribution operations in Korea at the end of 2006. Fox Atomic is in development on an untitled police thriller set in Korea that was scripted by Doug Jung and is set to star Channing Tatum (Variety, Nov 7, 2007.)
Oh was senior VP at CJ Entertainment and managed the international sales & distribution and festival activities for CJ and Cinema Service films. Before joining CJ, Oh was director of Asia Regional distribution at Warner Bros. Far East.
CJ's presence at the upcoming Cannes festival, where it has Official Selection out-of-competition title "The Good, The Bad and the Weird," will be headed by Mike Suh and Kathy Kim.
