D’Agnolo Vallan joins Venice

Programmer to seek out U.S. titles

ROME — Former Turin Film Festival co-topper Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan has boarded the Venice Film Festival as its U.S. programmer.

New York-based D’Agnolo Vallan, who previously worked with Venice between 2003-2006, will assist Lido topper Marco Mueller in scouting out Yank pics for Lido selection.

Concurrently, Los Angeles-based Margherita Di Paola, will become the Venice fest’s L.A. correspondent, working closely with both Mueller and D’Agnolo Vallan.

Venice’s upcoming 65th edition, which will open with the Coen brothers’ “Burn After Reading,” is expected to be particularly packed with Yank titles, many of which are not ready for Cannes.

The Venice fest will run August 27-September 6.
