FX revs up 'Anarchy' for 13 episodes

Motorcycle drama will premiere in September

FX has placed a 13-episode order for "Sons of Anarchy," a motorcycle drama from Kurt Sutter, exec producer of "The Shield."

Production begins in June for a series premiere in September. Charlie Hunnam and Katey Sagal star along with Drea de Matteo and Maggie Siff.

Sutter, John Linson, Art Linson and James Parriott will exec produce. Fox 21 will co-produce alongside FX Prods.

"Anarchy," formerly titled "Forever Sam Crow," centers on a biker club's hopes of protecting the fictional town of Charming, Calif., from drug dealers and corporate developers.

HBO is also in the biker business of late; the pay cabler's in the midst of shooting the drama pilot "1%," from writer-exec producer Michael Tolkin.

"I feel like a full patch member of Sons of Anarchy, being in this project for a year and a half now," Sutter said. "I'm thrilled to get the opportunity to not only explore the outlaw motorcycle world but to do it with grit and authenticity."
