If approved, the publisher of the enduringly popular "Final Fantasy," "Dragon Quest" and "Kingdom Hearts" game series, will become Square Enix Holdings on Oct. 1.
Most of the company's businesses will be managed by a new corporate entity retaining the name Square Enix.
However, Square Enix and amusement machine maker Taito will become subsidiaries of Square Enix Holdings.
The U.S., European and Chinese subsids will also come under the holding company but will be equal to the domestic business, each operating independently.
The object is to clarify the responsibility of each division for its own profits and losses at the company, which was founded in 1975.
