The program was inaugurated in 2000 by UCLA professor William McDonald and will begin on April 28 at the James Bridges Theater on UCLA's campus with a screening the Steve Martin film, "The Jerk," which Kemper worked on.
Kemper had worked on 60 narrative films between 1970 and 2005 including "Dog Day Afternoon," and "The Candidate," and received the American Society of Cinematographers Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998 for his long line of work.
Other cinematographers to be given this title include Conrad Hall, ASC and Stephen Burum, ASC.
