The 24-hour channel, which showcases great sporting moments from global archives, will complement the ESPN live sports channel that has been available on DStv since June 1994.
Lynne Frank, managing director of ESPN, Europe, Middle East and Africa, said ESPN Classic in Africa would focus on soccer, rugby and cricket, all very popular sports on the continent. South Africa's triumphs and defeats would feature strongly in the line-up.
