Warp allies with Madman

Pair to co-produce films

British production company Warp Films has forged an alliance with Australian distrib Madman to co-produce at least two movies over the next three years, bringing together talent from both countries.

Madman has already distributed Warp’s “This Is England” in Australia and New Zealand, and has acquired the first three films from Warp’s low-budget studio venture Warp X — “Donkey Punch,” “A Complete History of My Sexual Failures” and “Hush.”

Under the new partnership, Anna McLeish, who spearheaded the growth of Madman’s theatrical division, will move across to a production role. She will develop the joint projects in Australia, working closely with Warp managing directors Mark Herbert and Robin Gutch.

Herbert commented, “I believe that we can develop some market-focused yet leftfield films, by bringing together the Warp brand with Madman’s fantastic knowledge of the Australian filmmaking landscape.”
