IFC takes U.S. rights to 'Strangers'
Film played at Sundance
IFC plans a theatrical release before launching the film on its burgeoning VOD festival platform and then the Independent Film Channel.
Sold by Madrid-based 6 Sales, “Strangers” was well-reviewed at Sundance. Pic mixes a Romeo and Juliet- type tale of a romance between an Israeli man played by Liron Levo (“Alilla”) and Palestinian woman, Lubna Azabal (“Paradise Now”).
“The lead actors have great chemistry, which is one of the driving forces of this remarkable debut,” said 6 Sales topper Marina Fuentes.
“Strangers” is the first feature from Israeli directorial duo Erez Tadmor and Guy Nattiv, who teamed on the short “Strangers,” which won the Online Film Festival Viewers Award at Sundance in 2004.
In further early sales, Paradise has taken the CIS, Maximum Film Distribution -- Canada, Seven Group -- Greece, Shooting Stars -- the Middle East, and Mars Production -- Turkey.
