LONDON — World-renowned Cuban ballet dancer Carlos Acosta is developing a movie based on his own life story, to shoot later this year.

The project is adapted from his autobiography, “No Way Home,” which tells the story of his upbringing in the Havana slums, and his rise to become the star of the Royal Ballet in London’s Covent Garden.

Acosta, now 35, will play himself in the movie, which will be filmed in Spanish and English, and will shoot in Cuba. He is producing alongside veteran Rosa Bosch (“Buena Vista Social Club”). His two nephews, Andy Issac and Yonah Acosta, will play him as a child and as a teenager.

Bosch has already tapped some Latin American finance for the pic, and says she and Acosta will shortly announce a director.

Acosta is currently filming in a segment of the movie “New York I Love You” directed by Natalie Portman. The U.S. edition of “No Way Home,” which has already been published in the U.K., will go on sale May 6.
