Apatow, whose upcoming pics include "You Don't Mess With the Zohan" and "Pineapple Express," will be honored with the Suzanne and Bob Wright Screenwriter's Tribute, while Ryan is the inaugural recipient of the Compass Rose Acting Tribute. Additional honors to be doled out include the Adrienne Shelly Excellence in Filmmaking Award and aud and screenwriting awards for feature and short.
Opening-night film is director/co-writer Brad Anderson's "Transsiberian," which will be released in late summer by First Look Studios; the closer is writer-director Jonathan Levine's "The Wackness," which will hit theaters in July courtesy of Sony Pictures Classics. Both films preemed at Sundance this year.
Features in this year's lineup include a mix of docs and narrative films, many of which preemed and were bought out of Sundance such as "American Teen," "Baghead," "Choke" and "Frozen River."
Additional Park City class of '08 films that collected buzz and will unspool in Nantucket are Alex Rivera's sci-fi ride "Sleep Dealer" and New Orleans doc "Trouble the Water" as well as Sarasota Film Festival aud fave "Of All the Things," Jody Lambert's doc about his father.
Unscripted entertainment will be brought to festgoers via Late Night Storytelling, with hosts Anne Meara and Peter Farrelly, and Morning Coffee With, hosted by critic Leonard Maltin.
