Thurman was joined by pic's helmer Vadim Perelman, who admitted that although he wrote the script for his directorial debut, "House of Sand and Fog," he didn't feel comfortable penning the screenplay for this one.
"I tried to write it, but I couldn't make it work for myself," he explained. "It was very tough -- it was a very intellectual process because of all the clues involved. It was like an intricate puzzle." The task went to scripter Emil Stern, who adapted the Laura Kasischke novel by the same name.
After the screening, guests including pic's Evan Rachel Wood and Eva Amurri as well as Amurri's mother Susan Sarandon celebrated at the Soho Grand Penthouse.
"At this point, I have been in the business for a few years so I get it," Amurri said of the event's frenzied atmosphere. "But it helps that I kind of got to practice as a kid."
