German Preview sets up shop in July

Film market to bow in Cologne

COLOGNE -- German Films Preview, the market for buyers of Teutonic film, will run July 10 to 13 in Cologne at the Cinedom multiplex.

The event moved to Cologne last year following several years in which it was held in Munich during the Munich Film fest in late June.

Organizer German Films, the body that promotes domestic productions internationally, says it expects some 80 buyers from 25 countries, distributors as well as TV broadcasters.

Local distributors at the fair will include Media Luna, the Match Factory, Bavaria Film Intl., Beta Cinema, Kinowelt Intl. and Telepool, presenting productions which mostly have not been shown at markets or festivals.

Funding org Filmstiftung North Rhine Westphalia will hold a reception during the event.

Also in Cologne, the state of North Rhine Westphalia will hold its Medienforum, one of Germany's largest film and TV confabs, from June 9 to 11.

The Medienforum includes Filmstiftung's Intl. Film Congress with panels about co-production with Ireland, the boom in literature adaptations and global film marketing.
