On Sunday night fest handed out its Silver Screen Awards. Kudos was dominated by "Slingshot," a squatter drama by Brillante Mendoza of the Philippines. Pic won top prize in the Asian Feature Film category, best director and the Netpac Award.
Other prizes went to actress Inessa Kislova for Abai Kulbai's coming-of-age pic "Swift" and to Abdellatif Abdelhamid's Syrian comedy "Out of Coverage," which collected a special jury award.
Boo Junfeng, a local film student, won three awards for "Keluar Baris" in the Singapore Short Film section.
The 21st fest struggled to make ends meet on its S$500,000 ($370,000) budget.
However, it managed to preem a new section, Singapore Panorama, which screened 14 Singapore-made documentaries and features shot around the world.
