Arts Engine revs up retrospective
Media company celebrates 10th anniversary
Featured docs include the Emmy-nommed “Deadline,” about capital punishment; “Outside Looking In,” which explores the impact of transracial adoption; Arts Engine co-founder Katy Chevigny’s “Election Day,” which follows 11 voters; “Innocent Until Proven Guilty,” about race and the criminal justice system; and “Nuyorican Dream,” which chronicles the struggle of an impoverished Puerto Rican family in Brooklyn.
Additional offerings will include eight docs from Arts Engine production arm Big Mouth Films, as well as selections from past Media That Matters film fests, featuring politically conscious shorts. More than 1 million people participated in the Media Matters fest last year, checking out films online or in person at more than 100 worldwide screenings.
All eight docs will be included in an Arts Engine 10th anni DVD set to be released in October. Arts Engine consists of Big Mouth Films, the Media That Matters Film Festival and MediaRights.org.
