HOLLYWOOD -- The onscreen prom may have turned into a scary affair, but the mood was entirely different Wednesday at the "Promiere" for Screen Gems' horror/suspense pic "Prom Night" at the Cinerama Dome.

"What one derives in their own imagination is generally far scarier than anything captured by a camera," Screen Gems topper Clint Culpepper said. "Horror films should not be violence, but rather about scares, and no one loves to be scared more than teens. The biggest audience for these scarefests are teen girls."

The PG-13 rating helped propel the pic to No. 1 at the box office over the weekend.

Those invited to the dance at the Boulevard 3 after-party included helmer Nelson McCormick; pic's stars Brittany Snow, Scott Porter, Johnathon Schaech and Idris Elba; and guests such as thesps Dylan Walsh and Minka Kelly.
