Organized by industry promotional body SovExportFilm, founded in 1924, the pavilion will host a series of events, roundtables, parties and meetings.
A beach party will mark the 100th anniversary of the first Russian film, Vladimir Romashkov's 1908 "Ponizovaya volnitsa" (also known as "Stenka razin"), and another bash will mark the 50th anniversary of the Palme d'Or win for Mikhail Kalatozov's war film "The Cranes Are Flying."
Grigory Gevorkyan, SovExportFilm's longtime general director, said the May 14-25 events will mark the beginning of a shift in emphasis to a more international focus for Russian filmmakers after nearly a decade of domestic box office boom.
"We want to show foreign producers where and what they can shoot in Russia, what they can find here: crews, equipment, transport, locations and different climates -- the full range of possibilities we have here," Gevorkyan told Daily Variety.
