Televisa's play date with 'Pocoyo'

Tycoon will release DVD collection by August

CANNES  -- Mexican giant Televisa has inked with Spanish company Zinkia to handle all Mexican TV and licensing rights on Zinkia's CGI pre-school series "Pocoyo."

"Pocoyo" will air next summer on Televisa TV. Mexican DVD distributor Tycoon will release a "Pocoyo" DVD collection by August.

Exim is handling "Pocoyo's" Latin American licensing rights outside Mexico. Barcelona-based Planeta has also closed a pan-Latin American publishing deal.

Co-produced by Madrid-based Zinkia and U.K.'s Granada Intl., "Pocoyo" has aired in more than 100 territories. Granada handles worldwide rights excluding Spain, Portugal, Italy and Latin America.
