Miramax optioned the project right before the writers strike ensued in November and has just begun the development process.
"Man Under" revolves around a dysfunctional family that comes together again when photographs taken of them become the centerpiece of a MOMA exhibition, giving them newfound celebrity.
It's the first major script sale for Cherkis, who once worked for the photo agency Magnum.
