HOLLYWOOD -- What could have been just a press conference to promote the Tonys to the Left Coast became much more thanks to the star wattage that turned out at Thursday's "The Tonys Go Hollywood" event.
The schmoozing at the La Boheme Cafe soiree began after brief remarks from
Charlotte St. Martin, exec director of the Broadway League, and
Howard Sherman, exec director of the American Theater Wing. The 2008 Tony Awards will be held in Gotham June 15.

"Spring Awakening" helmer
Michael Mayer reminisced with
Stockard Channing about working together in "The Lion in Winter." The helmer also got a kick out of watching
Allison Janney imitate his directing style in "A View From the Bridge." After taking a trip down memory lane, Mayer said of the evening, "It made me feel so emotional."
