BERLIN -- Germany's Deutsche Telekom has inked a video-on-demand deal with children's rights group EM.Entertainment for the telco giant's online video platform Videoload as well as its IPTV service T-Home Entertain.
The agreement includes adaptations of classic children's works by Erich Kaestner such as "The Flying Classroom," "Emil and the Detectives," "Lottie and Lisa," and "Annaluise and Anton" as well as classic and current animated series like "Felix the Cat," "Lapitch the Shoemaker" and "Kaput and Zosky."
EM.Entertainment, whose assets include Australian production studio Flying Bark Prods., is on the block. Parent group EM.Sport is looking to sell off the tyke programming unit to focus on sports rights and production.
EM.Sport was forced to devalue EM.Entertainment by more than 50% last year due to what it said were tough market conditions, resulting in a $65 million annual loss for the company.
